Description
This Professional Development Unit (PDU) session for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) is delivered in both English and Spanish and led by a BehaviorPREP instructor. As the opening workshop, it sets the professional foundation for the 12-month RBT program. RBTs map their role across the client life cycle, gain a deeper understanding of what is and isn’t within their scope of practice and why a scope of practice exists, and unpack what “client first” really means. The session also examines supervision as the engine of an RBT’s growth: what it requires, and how to give and receive feedback. True to the PDU format, it pairs a hands-on clinical skill with a professional skill and ends with practice you can apply in your very next session. Attendees earn 1 PDU and receive a certificate of completion. Every session is recorded and hosted on the BehaviorPREP website for on-demand access.

- Distinguish in-scope from out-of-scope actions, and place the RBT role within the client life cycle.
- Explain what “client first” means and how present-day decisions shape long-term outcomes.
- Describe supervision requirements and the purpose of the competency/fidelity checklist.
- Deliver specific, constructive feedback and receive it professionally.
- Respond to an “unsatisfactory” rating with a concrete improvement step.
- Proactively request supervision, understanding it as protection for the client and the agency.
